Plea Letter to the Government of the United States

For Patriotic Organizations and the great majority of Korean People of the Republic of Korea

June is the month of Patriotism as the 6th day represents Memorial Day, and the 25th marks the 69th anniversary of the Korea War.

The spirit behind these two days has opened doors to peace, development, and the prosperity of the Korean people.  Furthermore, it is also the month to commemorate the 54,000 fallen American heroes who laid down their lives to save Korea and to protect the freedom of the Korean people.  It is thanks to these soldiers, and by extension, the United States of America and the American people, that Korea is the country it is today.  We owe them a great debt of gratitude.

We have taken the liberty of sending this message, which expresses our deepest gratitude to the American people and to their President.

1. Esteemed American people and Honorable President Donald Trump, from the liberation of Korea at the end of the Second World War to the establishment of a free democratic republic, the United States has been with Korea every step of the way, offering all-out support.  When we were on the brink of collapse in 1950 with North Korean and Chinese Communists storming in from the north, the United States led the United Nations’ forces to rescue Korea.  Not only this, but it was the iron-clad US-ROK alliance that allowed security, peace, and prosperity to take root in our nation for the past 71 years.  Again, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to the American people and their Government who have long guarded Korea.

2. Since taking office, President Trump has made it clear that he recognizes the grave threat North Korea’s nuclear armament poses not only to the Korean peninsula but also to North East Asia and the rest of the world.  President Trump has spared no effort in addressing this critical situation.

We recognize that the planned-visit this month is in line with such efforts, and we whole-heartedly welcome President Trump in Korea.

3. And yet, it is truly condemnatory that some Koreans continue to irrationally oppose the United States despite the efforts put forth by the American Government.

In particular, the Moon Administration is pushing forward policies, which ignore the fundamental values of the Constitution of this nation; core values such as the rule of law, division and balance of power, market-oriented economy, and most importantly, freedom and rights of individuals including the freedom of expression and property rights.

In regards to foreign affairs, the Moon Administration is maintaining an anti-US, but pro-China, and pro-North Korea stance; therefore, we are gravely concerned that Korea may devolve into a totalitarian dictatorship by aligning itself with the North Korean and Chinese Communist regimes.

To fight back anachronistic and failed policies by the Moon Administration, the patriotic citizens of this nation have been organizing nationwide resistances in the belief that it is not only the right but the obligation of the people to impeach the Government.

4. Against this backdrop, we, the patriotic citizens, would like to humbly request that the Government of the United States, especially President Trump, caution the Moon Administration on the following points:

   A. Continuing to apply maximum pressure and sanctions is the only way to force North Korea to dismantle its nuclear program.  President Moon’s idea of humanitarian aid or joint projects, such as the reopening of the Kaesong industrial complex or the resumption of tourism at Mount Kumgang, as the first step towards denuclearization, are not only illogical but deceptive, and ultimately amounts to repeating our past mistakes.

   B. Partial denuclearization is not an available option, and if such a future becomes a reality, then the NPT regime will collapse, leaving Korea a hostage to Kim Jung-Un and his Nuclear Program.

   C. Weakening the US-ROK alliance as well as Korea’s national defense without the denuclearization of North Korea is no different from waving a white flag at the enemy.  Therefore, the Panmunjom Declaration, the September 19th Pyongyang Declaration, and the Inter-Korean Military Agreement need to be rewritten or made null and void as they directly violate the Korean Armistice Agreement.  The United States, as the sole representative of the United Nations member countries and the Republic of Korea, need to take every possible action to correct the current situation.

   D. Furthermore, to maintain a firm US-ROK alliance, the tripartite alliance of the United States, Korea, and Japan is necessary; therefore, ROK-Japan relations must be improved as soon as possible.

   E. The ultimate goal of the US-ROK-JAPAN trilateral relations is to promote peace and prosperity for humanity by advocating for freedom, democracy, the market economy, rule of law, and respect for human rights across the world.

The United States is spearheading the Indo-Pacific Strategy and Freedom of Navigation Operation, and Korea in turn, must show strong support and actively participate in these endeavors.

Expressing clear support for these agendas is also in line with Korea’s vital interests as the Korean economy may take a serious hit due to violations of the UN Security Council resolutions and its failing credibility within the international community, all of which will negatively affect its sovereign credit rating.

Meanwhile, China, an uncivilized, selfish monster with its eyes set only pursuing regional hegemony, is determined to disrupt global peace.  China is disrupting not only global trade but also international order on freedom of navigation by ignoring the fundamental principles of the market economy and free trade, abusing government subsidies, and stealing intellectual property.
Furthermore, they are supporting the North Korean nuclear program.

The Republic of Korea must join hands with the United States and its other allies, including Japan, EU, India, Vietnam, and Southeastern Asian nations, in the fight against China.

We, the patriotic citizens, find President Trump’s visit to Korea all the more opportune and meaningful because of his goal to strengthen the friendship between our two peoples and the US-ROK alliance.

We, the patriotic citizens of the Republic of Korea do not condone the keynote policies of the Moon administration in the belief that they are entirely geared to devastating the purpose of this nation and wrecking the objectives of the Constitution by violating the principles and rules of the Constitution.

We have taken the liberty of requesting President Trump’s kind understanding of the free will of the Korean people.

God bless the American people, President Trump as well as the Korean people!
